Watching the World Pass By

Today I have been thinking about times when I was able to take a breath and sit back to just watch the world pass by.

One of my favorite times that came to mind was in Luxor, Egypt. After a very busy and trying few weeks traveling around Egypt we had arrived in Luxor for the second time. During this time, which was about 4 days while we waited for truck repairs, we weren't running from site to site. We had a few chances to get outside of where we were staying, though it was also nice to just relax within the complex we were camping at.  But it is hard to see the world passing by if you are within 4 walls.

On one occasion, Pete (a fellow traveler on the trip) and I went on a walk to find a streetside cafe to get a beer and relax at.  We found a place with outdoor seating and on a secondary street that still had regular traffic. As we took a bit of a timeout and enjoyed the beer we had a chat and watched the world passing along the street in front of us.

I frequently think about times I have had like this, though I am not very good at dedicating time to do this.  With that said this is an area that I can spend a bit more time on in the future.
